An elegant and original coffee table by the Thonet brothers, manufactured in Vienna around 1900, embodying the refinement of Art Nouveau and the mastery of bentwood.
This piece is distinguished by its original round top with a protective rim, its bentwood reinforcements, and the artistic volutes of its trefoil base, creating a dynamic and harmonious elegance.
Handcrafted in beech with a mahogany-stained, shellac-polished finish, it exhibits a depth of color and a warm, silky surface characteristic of early 20th-century Thonet productions. The original textile covering inserted into the top, visible in the photographs, is a rare element that enhances its historical value.
Referenced in the Michael Thonet Illustrated Catalogue, Vienna 1904, page 70, as “Reading Table no. 1,” this piece confirms its authenticity and its status as an original production of the Thonet brothers.
Timeless, it will enhance both classic and contemporary interiors. In original condition with a charming period patina, it bears the marks of time that attest to its authenticity.
