Sublime and rare bronze by Marcel Courbier (1898-1971), "Jeune fille au chevreau" (Young Girl with a Kid), dating from circa 1926. A pure example of the Art Deco period, this work comes from the prestigious Barbedienne foundry, as attested by the "F.BARBEDIENNE" signature engraved in the bronze.

This sculpture gracefully captures the moving bond between a young girl and a small kid, a subject imbued with gentleness, life, and affection. The artist succeeded in conveying remarkable tenderness in every detail.

A very high-quality casting, known as "lightweight," made with the exact amount of metal necessary. This technique demonstrates the exceptional expertise of the Ferdinand Barbedienne foundry and allows for remarkably fine chasing.

The work was awarded the Grand Prix National des Beaux-Arts upon its creation in 1926, a recognition of its artistic excellence.

Spectacular brown and emerald green patina, in very beautiful condition. Signed.
