Oil on paper laid down on canvas by Camille Corot, an essential master of the Barbizon school. This intimate composition depicts the interior of a forest near Ville-d'Avray, a region dear to the painter, who stayed there regularly.
Dimensions: 30 x 26 cm. Dated November 1st, signed with the monogram "CC" incised into the wet paint with the handle of a brush, a technique characteristic of the artist. Inventory number "1284" stamped in red on the reverse of the stretcher.
This work bears witness to Corot's poetic sensitivity to nature, capturing the luminous atmosphere and serenity of the forest landscapes that inspired his entire body of work. A remarkable example of his small-format production, prized by collectors.
