Beautiful miniature dated 1820 and signed by Mansion (1785-1840), one of the greatest miniaturists of the early 19th century. André-Léon Larue, known as Mansion, a pupil of Isabey and his father Jacques Larue, left his mark on the era with works of exceptional quality, featured in the most important collections.
This portrait is distinguished by its virtuosic and sensitive execution. The face reveals remarkable precision in every detail—features, soft and fine hair, clothing—while the painter succeeded in breathing authentic life into his subject. The gaze captivates with its rare intensity and intelligence, animated by a slight smile and an elegant pose. The subject's skin exudes a delicacy enhanced by a subtly contrasted background.
Mansion generally depicted notable figures of his time, which suggests the possibility of identifying the sitter.
