Large monstrance in silver-plated copper with partial mercury gilding, dating from the 18th century. Dimensions: 24 cm wide × 68 cm high.
This reliquary monstrance of Italian origin (South Tyrol) originally held a lunula, the notch for which remains visible. Reassigned at the end of the 19th century to the display of relics, it contains precious relics of the Order of the Visitation: Saint Francis de Sales and Saint Jane Frances de Chantal, founders of this spiritual order, as well as a relic of Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, a Visitandine nun beatified in 1864.
The piece is adorned with a refined assembly of trimmings and glass beads. On the back, two wax seals and an authentic signed by François-Marie-Joseph Delamaire, a French archbishop from the early 20th century, certify the authenticity of the relics.
Delivered with its period box, this complete and rare set constitutes an exceptional piece of European religious heritage.
