Helmet from the Provence landings in August 1944. McCord 1942 manufacture with a front-seam stainless steel rim, fixed bails, and brass chinstrap loops. Complete early Westinghouse liner with white synthetic webbing, rectangular white metal washers, and a fixed leather chinstrap. Non-adjustable headband, produced May-September 1942. Distinctive markings: nationality insignia painted on the left side (1804 consular flag and Hand of Fatima), yellow crescent painted on the front. These markings identify a helmet from the 3rd Algerian Infantry Division (DIA), a unit that participated in the liberation of Provence. Beautiful period patina, rare historical example. Rare US M1 from North African troops
