Spectacular historical set consisting of a French cuirassier helmet and cuirass, worn between 1874 and 1914.
The 1874 model helmet is in excellent condition. Its skull, visor, and neck guard are made of steel, engraved with serial numbers and the manufacturer's stamp. The brass crest and headband are adorned with a flaming grenade, laurel leaves, and a Medusa mask. The scale-pattern brass chin straps are mounted on leather backing. Original black horsehair mane (75 cm). Brass plume holder. Delivered with a period plume in scarlet feather and light blue olive. Total height: 35 cm.
The enlisted man's cuirass, 1854 Imperial Guard model, includes a breastplate and backplate in very fine condition, never mismatched (same serial number 181). Brass chain shoulder straps mounted on leather, fixed by riveted plates at the back and steel locks at the front. Height: 40 cm.
A homogeneous and authentic set, a remarkable testament to 19th-century French cavalry equipment.
