Magnificent antique liturgical set consisting of a chalice and its matching paten, crafted in silver-gilt and dated 1836. Both pieces bear the official Paris hallmarks ( 1819-1838), attesting to their authenticity and prestigious provenance.

The chalice is distinguished by exceptional high-relief decoration. Its circular base features three oval medallions signed "Montagny" — likely Jean-Pierre Montagny, a renowned French engraver — depicting the Crucifixion, the Passion of Christ, and Saint Peter. These scenes are surrounded by grape clusters, sheaves of wheat, reeds, and cherub heads, all rendered with impressive detail. The stem and the bowl continue this ornamental richness with three additional medallions illustrating the theological virtues: Faith, Hope, and Charity, separated by interlaced floral motifs.

The interior of the chalice shines with a brilliant gilding. Engraved on the base is a Latin inscription dated to the Holy Year 1836, invoking divine protection.

The silver-gilt paten features in its center the IHS monogram surrounded by a finely engraved crown of thorns, with a flaming heart pierced by a cross, symbolizing the Sacred Heart.

This set represents an extraordinary example of sacred art from the first third of the 19th century, combining artistic beauty with spiritual depth. Ideal for a collector of religious art, a priest, or an ecclesiastical institution.
