Norway, 1950s","description":"Superb wooden sculpture depicting a stylized polar bear, created by Norwegian designer Arne Tjomsland, an iconic figure of 1950s Scandinavian design.\n\nThis piece perfectly illustrates the Nordic mid-century aesthetic: clean lines, balanced volumes, and a minimalist expression, aiming to capture the essence of the animal rather than naturalist detail. The polar bear is one of Tjomsland’s most iconic subjects and a major piece of his body of work.\n\nThe sculpture is crafted from a fine wood, most likely teak, featuring a warm and uniform vintage patina. The underside bears the marking \"NORWAY,\" characteristic of Norwegian productions from that era.\n\nCondition: Very good state of preservation for a 1950s piece. No structural cracks or restorations.\n\nDimensions: Length 34 cm, Height 12 cm\n\nPeriod \u0026 Origin: 1950s, Norway\n\nAbout the artist: Arne Tjomsland (1915–1970) is renowned for his wooden animal sculptures, which are now highly sought after by collectors of vintage and mid-century Scandinavian design.
